Memorial Weekend

Sometimes this blogs is meant to record meaningful events that change our lives, and sometimes, like today, to record a great day that we simply want to remember because we had so much fun!

Today started out with Troy walking up at 6 and mumbling something like, "What day is it? Do we have to get up?" With the answer being Sunday, we were able to sleep in! Having enjoyed church on Saturday night, Sunday's have become a very restful, family day for us. After the kids got up, we straighted up the house and ate breakfast... Charity's favorites... cheesy eggs, toast and turkey bacon... mmmm! We had originally planned to go to the cabin today, but after taking care of Troy's truck yesterday, we decided that it wasn't the best plan for us, so we alternatively decided to accept an invitation to Bryan Mitchell's house for swimming and lunch. We were all excited, especially Charity, who as we blogged before, is actually part mermaid. She was ready to go at 9:30am with her swim suit on, mermaid tube, noodle, and goggles (purchased yesterday with her own money) in tow We watched a little Veggie Tales while Josiah napped, and then it was time to get ready to go! "Wahoo!" from Charity.

We had an awesome time swimming and splashing around in the pool!! We ate cheese burgers, popcorn (another Charity favorite), chips, fruit, and an array of dessert items to spoil the kids with (and of course the adults too)... cookies, licorice, and ice cream. The kids were pooped by the time we got home. Thank goodness tomorrow is Memorial Day... an extra day off to rest, and we'll probably be swimming again over at Grandma and Papa's house!

Thanks for a great day Bryan!! We love hanging out with you.

A Happy Mother's Day

Today was such a wonderful Mother's day... I am so blessed!

It started off yesterday (Saturday) with Troy and the kids sneaking around whispering about their plans, and rushing me out the door to church so that they could work on a little project.

This morning I was able to sleep in a little, while Troy got the kids up, changed JT's diaper and got the kids started on breakfast. Charity helped crack eggs and make breakfast too! (Josiah prefers to do the eating) We had a great breakfast, and off we went to the zoo. In the car the kids gave me a little gift... a necklace made by the girls in Homes for Hope, Figi. I was super excited, as I have really wanted one for a while. All the proceeds from the necklaces go back to the village and support the girls and their kids.

At the zoo we saw a few animals, and spent the majority of our time drinking lemonade and "spelunking" in the water cave play area. The kids had a blast running around the zoo in their swim suits.

After the zoo, we rode home, trying to keep the kids awake, singing "The Wheels on the Bus," looking forward to our nap. We all took a good nap, woke up and ran out the door to my grandparents house for more fun in the sun... swimming!! Charity apparently thinks that practicing in the tub means that she is now a proficient swimmer, because she walked into the backyard, and jumped into the pool!! I was shocked! She kept herself afloat, but I still jumped in after her. Too funny!

After hours of being outside, enjoying family time, eating hamburger and hot dogs and HOMEMADE ICE CREAM (Major YUMMY), we made it home with 2 very tired kids! Charity shared with us in the car that when she was swimming she turned into "Charity Mermaid", her alter ego. She also shared that she peed in the pool... gotta love the honesty!

The thing about Mother's Day is that when the kids are happy, the mother is also happy... therefore making it a great Mother's Day!

Chaos

I haven't blogged in FOREVER!! Things have been crazy around the Hunt house. We have had a few bummers and some real blessings this month .

  • Troy's Grandma Pootie passed away on April 18th, after 8 years of fighting Leukemia. The blessing part is that we made it to San Diego before and were able to stay for the week to be with family.
  • Last Wednesday night we had the "Celebrating You; A Night For Pampering" event at the church... it was so AWESOME!! Sometimes women need to be transformed on the outside a little bit, to feel good about the inside... that happened, and women were glowing after the different pampering stations.
  • Our house has termites again... but we don't have to pay for any of the treatments because we are under our contract from the first treatment. Yeah!!
  • Troy's truck needs work done... blah!!
  • We started Financial Peace University
  • Yesterday Dee Branam passed away. We are very sad becuase we'll miss her so much. But we know how much she loved Jesus, and the joy of being in His presence now must be pretty awesome!!
  • My kids are stink'in cute!!

Winking ;o)
